Job Description

The purpose of Development and Institute Relations (DIR) is to foster a thriving and engaged community of support for Caltech. By connecting the people who share and support Caltech’s mission and values, we will ensure the Institute receives the necessary resources to achieve Caltech’s aspirations and sustain its excellence in teaching, research, and scholarship in perpetuity.   DIR team members embrace and uphold the values of diversity, integrity, respect, focus, and pride.

As a part of the Advancement and Campaign Communications team, the Art Director requires someone who is visually creative, organized, and technically savvy.  Reporting to the Director of Advancement and Campaign Communications Strategic Planning, the Art Director is responsible for the execution of creative design, production, and editing of traditional and digital content that brings Caltech, and the people, research, and impact of the work that is done here, to life. The Art Director should have a wide range of design and production experience—including, but not limited to photography, graphic design, illustration, web design, and print—and also an enthusiasm for developing new skills that can help elevate Caltech's storytelling and the Institute's reputation overall.

The Art Director should be able to work collaboratively with team members in Advancement and Campaign Communications, DIR, as well as partner closely with other individuals and groups across campus. The ability to adeptly manage feedback from multiple stakeholders, while also maintaining a strong artistic vision and having the ability to communicate that is critical.
