Will Rogers once said, “Half our life is spent trying to find something to do with the time we have rushed through life trying to save.”

This is so true of course. The biggest challenges of our lives always revolve around time. We’re stressed and unhappy when we can’t find the time to do the things that matter the most to us, and then when we do find the time, there’s always a myriad of distractions competing with the important.

This is especially the case in this digital age. The result is that our lives can become really difficult and out of control.

Our normal inclination is to blame it all on technology and try to zone out once in awhile. But that rarely works, at least not sustainably.

Our best bet is to flip the situation on its head by using technology against its own self.

How can we do that?

Rather than distract us, we can use technology to get focused, to be productive, to save time and do so many other things that can help make our lives easier.

This is in no way far-fetched, as this days there are Apps for everything.

Here are 5 of the best apps that promise to do just that:

1. Any.do cal (Plan your life)

Any. Do is a calendar app that helps you plan your life in a world where memories are flawed and unreliable. It seamlessly sync with any.do to-do list to help you finish the task of the day with focus; It reminds you of all the important things you need to do from birthdays to meetings to catching up with friends. What’s cool is that you can use the voice input even when you’re pressed for time. It packs a lot of features all geared towards making your life easy and focused.

2. Calm (Be mindful)

It’s really hard for some of us to escape being stressed, anxious or unbalanced. Calm is a meditation app that was made just for this problem. It helps you tune out and regain calmness, focus and peace of mind after a stressful day. What’s more? it can induce you to a sound sleep.

3. Evernote (Note taking)

So many of us are not just made for taking notes on paper. Only God knows how many hours of my precious time I’ve used trying to find where I wrote the outline for an article or where I jot down my to do or the ideas for projects I need to undertake. It’s not pleasant. This is the problem that the Evernote team set out to solve.

Evernote helps you bring all your ideas for a project in one place. You can make notes, save snippets of text you find elsewhere or even the whole web page. You can share your ideas with other people, which is perfect for group projects. You can also sync it across all your devices so you get access to your notes anytime, anywhere.

4. Hootsuite and Hootlet (Social media management)

Social Media waste an obscene amount of our time, yet we can’t seem to let go of it. Two days without taking a peek at what’s happening on Facebook or Twitter and you feel like you’re being suffocated.

Hootsuite and the chrome extension Hootlet helps you have your cake and eat it. You can still use social media while saving a ton of your time. With Hootsuite, you can view all of your social media updates from all your social media handles in one place. This saves you the time that you could have used switching from one place to the other.

With the Hootlet chrome extension, you can share a web page across all of your social media handles with one click. What’s even more? You can schedule updates to go out when you don’t have the time for it.

5.Trackr Bravo (Find your lost items with ease)

This app is really really cool. It’s no wonder it is the only one in this list without a free version.

Trackr Bravo comes as an app and accompanying wireless devices that you can attach to your wallets, keys, or any other thing that you lost frequently.

Finding an item is as easy as pressing the bottom on the app, you can either make your loss item ring like a phone or you track it with the tracking device on the app.

It works the other way round too. If you can’t find your phone, simply press the button on one of the devices and your phone starts ringing even if it’s on silent mode.

How much easier can life become?
