    Penprofile, amongst its other numerous key features, allows users (individuals and organisations) to create and join relevant groups to meet and connect with relevant users, discuss critical issues, promote interests and businesses, as well as share opportunities and grow together.

    How to create a group

    Creating a group on Penprofile is a piece of cake. All you need to do is to log in to your account, go to the main menu on the top left of the homepage and click on ‘Groups’. This takes you to the group homepage, where all groups on Penprofile are listed. At the top right of the group homepage, select ‘CREATE NEW GROUP’. This will take you to a page where you input your group preferences: group title (name), description, group profile photo, category, and privacy setting. After all the preferences have been set, click ‘CREATE’, and the group is ready.

    How to join a group

    First, you need to go to Group Browse Page, where all groups on Penprofile are listed. You then click on the particular group you are interested in, and you will be taken to the group page. Look around, you will see ‘Join Group.’ Click, and your request to join the group will be sent to the group owner if the group privacy is set for that. But if not so, you will immediately be admitted into the group as soon as you click. Now, you are a member of the group, and you can contribute to any discussion as well as initiate a new conversation.

    The group is a platform for users to showcase their brands or build communities of colleagues with common interests. It can be used to advertise products and services, promote causes, mobilise people, and so on. As organisations, you can use the group to grow your business, promote your cause and nurture client relationships.

    While creating the group, use your organisation’s official name as the group title. It makes it easy for your brand to be located. It also prevents mistaken brand identity or inconsistency.

    Make a great first (visual) impression

    The group allows you to upload a profile picture and cover photo. Ideally, the profile picture should be your brand logo while you use the cover photo to showcase your company’s products and services.

    Category and description

    Ensure that you select an appropriate category that fits well with your brand while creating the group. It will make easy for members who are searching for relevant groups to access your group. The description section is equally important. This is where you describe what the group is all about. Make it detailed but succinct! As soon as people land on your group home page, they will be able to read what your group is all about.

    Location and contact

    As a brand, putting the specific location and contact is essential to make it easy for potential clients to find you. So, it will be a great idea to include information about your location and other contact details, such as email, phone, etc, under the description part.

    Build a community

    You can use the group to build a community of (potential) clients for your brand. Use the ‘Add People’ button to add as many relevant people as possible that you think can be interested in your brand. Remember not to abuse this feature. You could be penalised. Don’t add people indiscriminately or people who don’t want to be added.

    The essence of creating the group as an organisation is to promote the organisations’ products and services. Thus, you can publicise and showcase all of these to your group members. Unless you restrict the updates of your group, whatever you share through the group can be seen by other users who are not your group members.

    So, do your best to share any relevant resources with your members and other users. It is important you keep them engaged and not over bombard them with adverts. You can also use the ‘event’ feature of your group to create and publicise your organisation’s events and to even keep up with current events in your industry.

    There are three main aspects of posting to the group: You can post an update directly on the group's activity feed; you can post a discussion by creating a topic; you can post photos of your organisation's activities; you can post events.

    Public relations, customer care and feedback

    The group also serves as a viable platform for reaching out to your clients and getting feedback from them. Use the group to follow up with clients and help them if they have enquiries.
