  • Rahmatu Lawan BATTLE OF OUR SOUL All of us at some point in our lives have experienced feelings; excitement, happiness, sadness, depression, fear, anxiety, you name it. In fact, these feelings are human. But the difference is how we react to our feelings. Do we recognize them and behave rationally as they occur, or we act according to our emotions? We need to be able to attend a certain level of emotional maturity before we do the former. Believe me, it’s hard to attend in one's life. This is a battle of our lives and we must not lose sight of it until we breathe our last.

in the topic Can I consider students' essays as documents in a GT study? in the forum Data Collection
As I understand, interviews, observations and documents are the three common sources of data in Grounded Theory studies. Can I consider students' essays (in this context, marked essays) as documents in addition to interviewing them and observing their classes?

    Very interesting question, Kathy.

I believe homeschooling can be an interesting experience for kids, especially under the condition you mentioned when parents and kids are on the move. That circumstance will sure complement the socialization they are going to miss.

However,  homeschooling while parents and kids are stationed in one place in my opinion will be a boring idea. Kids will lack social skills and the necessary physical abilities the require. A greater percentage of what students learn at school do so from interaction  with their peers.

With regard the appropriate age limit for homeschooling,  I believe, the earlier to enrollment them in a proper school system the better.

This is what I suggest, anyway.

in the topic Dilemma of Choosing a College Degree in the forum Admissions

Well, for me, perhaps it's a combination of the two. If she goes for something simply because of the market demand, it's possible she may not be happy at what she does in the end. We have instances of people, in fact, many people not happy with their profession, and so end up living an unfulfilled life.

On the other hand, simply following a passion - wherever it takes you - without any consideration of your role in the society (because you do not exist in isolation), can also lead to doing something that eventually will be not be appreciated, and so you may feel less valued and possibly less fulfilled.

Therefore, as I said, she should try to find a balance to study what she feels she loves, also can be easily sold to the society.
