We have to learn to hold on to our personal convictions, especially our moral peculiarity and upbringing.

I find it ridiculous the extent to which people are willing to go to get validation from people who don’t even count. Take media depiction of love, affection and relationships for example, if your ‘relationship’ does not involve fancy dinner dates and expensive gifts, you probably haven’t found the right partner. Why bother getting married when you can just have or be a ‘baby mama? Marriage isn’t necessary, it’s just a prison, the world is evolving they’ll say. I weep for this generation.

People are willing to lie about their upbringing and family in a bid to ‘fit in’ and be ‘accepted’, people would be intimidated by the ‘success’ of others not putting in mind the struggles and hurdles that come with it. Our self-esteem keeps going down the drain each passing day and it’s a really heart breaking situation for the youths of today and tomorrow.
This is what happens in a media infested generation. The eyes they say are the windows to the soul, when people refuse to turn or close their eyes to the ever raging mediocrity out there, that’s the result we get.

It’s almost like it has become hard to distinguish between reality and media. It’s why people set unrealistic goals for themselves and others and then go spiraling down the unforgiving road of depression when they get disappointed. It’s why people feel the need to overcompensate; it’s why people feel the need to share everything on social media. It’s like an infection that isn’t going away anytime soon until people start to wake up and even then, the world will not let you escape the clutches of media influence and manipulation. It’s almost a lost cause.

Maybe not even ‘almost’ but a lost cause already.

There is no turning back the hands of time. Folks are dumber, mediocrity is worshipped, recklessness is celebrated, rationality is despised, Intellect is abhorred and if you speak up you are considered a fool, conservative or even a ‘conspiracy theorist’.

But in the end, we just need to try keeping our heads above water for as long as we can.
